Getting stock tokens
This page is about acquiring the ingredient. If you want the finished dish, Investing in baskets is one tap from a stablecoin and skips most of what follows.
First: are you allowed?
Eligibility gates everything else, so check it before anything else.
Robinhood states that Stock Tokens are not available to residents of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, nor to U.S. persons as defined under securities law, nor to entities incorporated in the UK. Robinhood maintains a fuller restricted-jurisdiction list beyond those four.
Robinhood describes the product as designed for global investors but does not publish a country count. You will see “available in 120+ countries” repeated in press coverage; that number is not a first-party claim, and we do not repeat it as one. Check your own jurisdiction against Robinhood’s current terms rather than against an article.
Why you cannot mint one
This surprises people, so it comes second.
The primary market is closed. Only Authorized Participants — currently BBVI — may subscribe for new tokens or redeem them directly with RHJ, and only after KYB onboarding. There is no contract call that mints you a stock token against a deposit, and there never was one for retail.
Everything below is the secondary market. Every retail route is a purchase from someone who already holds the token, not an issuance.
Route 1: the Robinhood app
The straightforward path in an eligible country. Buy Stock Tokens in Robinhood’s app, then withdraw them to a self-custody wallet to use them anywhere else — including in a basket.
Robinhood names Robinhood Wallet, Trust Wallet and SafePal as compatible self-custody wallets, and states that tokens can be discovered and swapped through Robinhood Wallet, decentralized exchanges, or centralized exchanges. Any standard EVM wallet pointed at Robinhood Chain will hold them; see Addresses for the chain parameters.
Route 2: onchain, on Robinhood Chain
If you already hold assets onchain, you can buy stock tokens directly. Three things you need first:
| You need | Which is |
|---|---|
| Gas | ETH, the chain’s native token |
| The quote asset | USDG, 0x5fc5360D0400a0Fd4f2af552ADD042D716F1d168 — note it has 6 decimals, not 18 |
| The right contract | The token’s canonical address, from Addresses |
The venue with real depth is Uniswap, whose v4 PoolManager at 0x8366a39CC670B4001A1121B8F6A443A643e40951 holds stock token liquidity across essentially the whole registry. Rialto is described by Robinhood as a PropAMM-driven spot exchange and is a genuine second spot venue. RFQ market-making is what Robinhood’s own docs describe as the launch liquidity mechanism, but it is not reachable by a contract: the aggregator that fronts it declines to quote stock tokens on legal grounds. Those v4 pools are what the Basquets zap uses under the hood.
What is not a way to get one
Ecosystem lists invite one specific mistake, so it is worth naming:
- Lighter and Arcus are perpetuals DEXs. A perp gives you derivative exposure to the price. It does not put a stock token in your wallet, and you cannot put one in a basket.
- Morpho is a lending market. You can borrow against these assets there; you do not source them there.
Before you buy: four checks
- Verify the contract address against the registry, not against a ticker in a UI. Stock tokens explains the beacon check that proves a token is genuine.
- Read
uiMultiplier(). If it is not 1, one token is not one share, and any mental arithmetic you do on price needs to account for that. The oracle price already does. - Check the pause flags.
oraclePaused(),tokenPaused()andpaused()each stop something different. - Look at pool depth, not just price. Liquidity across the registry is extremely uneven — a handful of tokens carry most of the volume and the rest are thin. On a thin pool, the price you get and the price you were quoted are different numbers.
That last point is the honest reason baskets exist: buying twelve thin positions by hand, one at a time, is where the money quietly goes. Investing in baskets does it as a single routed transaction.
Where to go next
- What you are actually holding → Stock tokens
- Skip the shopping entirely → Investing in baskets
- Chain parameters and every contract address → Addresses
